I am Avinash S/o K.Candane @ Sivaradjane, who is working as Assistant in Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries, Government of Pondicherry. I have a brother Master Ajaykumar. On 25th September 2003, I suddenly fell sick with nasal and gum bleeding and I was rushed to the nearby hospital JIPMER . As per their advice , I was taken to CMC Hospital, Vellore.

As per CMC Findings

Their Examination revealed multiple dysmorphic features and a mildy enlarged liver. Investigations revealed a pancytopenia. A diagnosis of Fanconi’s anaemia was made and a stress cytogenetic test and a bone marrow evaluation was done to confirm the above, and the results of the Diagnosis was confirmed as FANCONI ‘S ANEMIA that is BONE MARROW APLASIA.

The treatment options were discussed with Senior Consultant Dr.Mammen Chandy, Professor and Head of Department of Haematology, CMC, Vellore.

According to Dr.Mammen Chandy Bone marrow transplantation is the only curative option available to me. In the meantime it was advised to me to start on Tab.Stanazalol and to transfuse packed cell if the Hb drops. This treatment is being carried out till date in Jipmer, Pondicherry.

Applo hospital Treatment

While continuing the above treatment, I came to know that an operation for this disease has been recently performed (April ‘2007) in Apollo Hospital by Dr. Revathi Raj of Haemotology Department, Chennai for an Uganda child.



I immediately rushed to meet her and she carried out preliminary examinations for me and has sent HLA test result to other Cord Bank to find matching cells from unrelated persons in India and other countries.

Now she has informed me that the suitable stemcell matching has been found in the USA which costs US Dollar 15000 /-(around Rs.6,00,000 lakhs)

Dr. Revathy Raj has planned to perform the operation in APRIL 2008 which is postponed to JULY 2008(due to insufficient fund) by using the StemCell for the Bone marrow transplantation. The total cost of operation is around 21,00,000/-(Twenty one lakhs) as follows:
